Yamanaka Onsen offers a peaceful townscape where nature, history, and culture are in harmony.
In particular, Yuge Kaido, located in the center of the town, is lined with numerous gallery stores, cafes, and eateries featuring Yamanaka lacquerware and Kutani pottery, many of which are unique and appealing.
The street is a 600-meter main street that runs from Hasebe Shrine, the founder of the hot spring, to the vicinity of So-yu “Kikuno-yu,” and has a wide sidewalk with no utility poles, making it possible to stroll leisurely and enjoy the atmosphere of a hot spring resort town.
Particularly noteworthy are the stores and facilities of the “Gallery Stroll Association.
Stores of various genres are gathered together, displaying a wide range of items from antiques, Kutani ware, Yamanaka lacquerware to contemporary crafts.
There are also unique stores that combine two types of business in one store, allowing visitors to enjoy unexpected encounters. Please take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the street.
From JR Kaga Onsen Station, take the Hokutetsu Kaga Bus bound for Kayano (bus stop #2) on the Onsen Yamanaka Line (approx. 35 min.) → approx. 150 m from Yuge Kaido bus stop.
